Herpes researchers need funding to continue the development of new drugs and vaccines to combat herpes. Currently there are a few ways to directly fund researchers working on an effective treatment.

Harvard medical school are working on a vaccine. The research is led by Dr David Knipe and his team of scientists at Knipe Lab. To donate to this research, visit the research website here.

The University of Florida is researching a novel cure that may cause the herpes virus to become inactive in people who already carry the virus. The researchers, led by Dr David Bloom, are accepting donations.

There are two types of herpes simplex virus, HSV-1 and HSV-2. Because they are nearly identical, research into one virus helps research into the other. You can donate to the University of Florida’s HSV-1 research here, and HSV-2 research here. You can read more about the research here.

Duke University are developing a novel approach that will force the virus out of a latent state and allow it to be killed by existing drugs like acyclovir. This could completely rid a person’s body of the herpes virus. It is the most complete treatment currently being researched. To donate to the Duke project, you have to carefully follow the University’s instructions:
